The Rebate Dance

I remember when you used to fill out rebate forms, cut out the serial numbers from the boxes, make a copy of the receipt, send it all off in the mail, and wait 4-6 weeks for the check to turn up.

They've now updated the process: you fill out rebate forms, cut out the serial numbers from the boxes, make a copy of the receipt, send it all off in the mail, and wait 4-6 weeks for a debit card to turn up.

One problem: when I opened it, I thought it was one of those applications for a credit card that had a sample card, and was throwing it out just as I realized something wasn't quite right.

Another problem: dragging around a piece of plastic to spend $10? Really? Is this any improvement? Any help at all?

And how come, even though I sent in two separate rebates in one envelope, they sent back two separate cards: one for $10 and the other for $25?

A friend suggested I should use them to buy Amazon Gift card's, rather than dragging around the cards to stores. Maybe that's a good idea...
